New Orleans style blues artist Eric Lindell headlines the 17th Annual Dunedin Wines The Blues Festival on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 5 to 11 pm in Pioneer Park at the center of Downtown Dunedin, at the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Main Street. Local artists Al Coffee McDaniel and Wendy Rich & The Soul Shakers will also perform. Born in California and brought up in New Orleans musically, Eric Lindell is a singer/songwriter with a heavy jam based and New Orleans Blues following. His songs are a mix of the classic NOLA Blues and 70s R&B/Soul. Some have compared his sound to vintage Van Morrison and Springsteen, with infl uences from Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfi eld, Ray Charles and Sly and The Family Stone. Harold Brown, Ivan Neville and Galactic’s Stanton Moore all make guest appearances on his latest album, Change In The Weather.

The self-described San Mateo Skatepunk started to play bass then later, guitar, inspired by his time in the San Francisco music scene. His crowded California shows were attended by Charlie Musselwhite and Tom Waitts. He moved to New Orleans in 1999, where he teamed up with older roots musicians, then later met and started playing with Moore of Galactic, later joined by Galactic bassist Rob Mercurio. Listeners have compared the talents of singer Wendy Rich to Janis Joplin and Aretha Franklin. The group, started by guitarist Steve “Red” Lasner in 1990, plays powerful rocking blues, performing covers and originals written by Wendy Rich. Lasner brought the group together through his Sunday Night Blues Jam at the Ringside Café in St. Petersburg, where he met Rich and Steve Way. Drummer Duane Pilkunas joined the group in 1999. They continue to host the Sunday Night Blues jam at the Ringside Café, the longest running blues jam in Tampa Bay.

“New-School Soul” artist, Al Coffee McDaniel, mixes R&B, Blues, Neo-Soul and Jazz with cool modern urban beats. His music blends the concepts and grooves of 80s Funk/Dance with the sounds of today’s urban and neo-soul. Admission to Wines The Blues is free. Beer, Food and Wine will be available for purchase.
